Deputy Harbour Master
Permanent contract; 35 hours per week; competitive salary; 35 days annual leave; pension scheme
Mallaig Harbour Authority are looking to recruit a Deputy Harbour Master to support the Harbour Master in directing and coordinating the provision of a safe and efficient service in the Port, that meets relevant statutory requirements for safe navigation. All applicants should have the longer term ambition and attitude to succeed the present Harbour Master.
Mallaig Harbour is a busy West Coast Port, servicing the fishing and Aquaculture industries, and providing infrastructure for lifeline ferry services operated by CalMac and private operators. Operated by Mallaig Harbour Authority, a Trust Port, there are exciting plans for development, and we are now looking to strengthen the management team.
The successful candidate will have previous relevant experience at a senior level with an in-depth working knowledge of the Port Marine Safety Code and legislation governing marine operations. They will hold an STCW II/2 ≥3000GTMasters Certificate of Competency or equivalent. They will have the ability to lead, whilst being a team player. MHA has a small, dedicated team, and a flexible approach to working is essential.
